212 Acres Purchased for New Industrial Park

DALLAS, TEXAS, April 29, 2014 – Midlothian Economic Development, a non-profit industrial development corporation in Midlothian, Texas, has acquired 212 acres located at the northwest corner of Highway 67 and Miller Road, according to Larry Barnett, President of Midlothian Economic Development. The new Midlothian Business Park will be developed on the land in support of Midlothian Economic Development’s focus to attract companies from outside the area to build their business within the City of Midlothian.

“The southern side of the DFW Metroplex has experienced increased building activity and the emergence of the area as an attractive industrial location,"said Barnett. "With the influx of companies relocating manufacturing and distribution facilities to the Dallas-Fort Worth region, we want to be able to offer smaller sites in a planned park environment. The new business park will offer sites designed for manufacturing companies who will appreciate the amenities and quality of life that Midlothian offers, and the close proximity to major industries.”

The new Midlothian Business Park is located in the heart of the community's industrial development, with easy access to major highways. The new Midlothian Business Park is located in the heart of the community's industrial development, with easy access to major highways.
Colliers International represented Midlothian Economic Development in the acquisition, with Tom Pearson and Chris Teesdale negotiating the sale with David Shipman of Shipman Companies in Burleson. Gary Pickens, President of United Properties Southwest, will provide development management services to bring buildable, ready sites to the market, and Mark Pross of Pross Design Group will handle master plan layout and overall design for the park.
“DFW led the nation in industrial absorption in 2013, and we are excited about the future prospects for growth of our area and for Midlothian with the new sites that will be coming on the market,” said Pearson.
“Being able to offer a fully developed site in this kind of location can make the difference between whether a community gets considered for a relocation," Teesdale added. "We are very impressed with the exceptional quality of the Midlothian community."
The new Midlothian Business Park adds to excellent industrial real estate already in Midlothian with TXI's RailPort Business Park, a 1,600 acre fully developed park, and home to GDF Suez, an electric power plant, and three distribution warehouses totaling over 2,000,000 square feet for such companies as Target, QuikTrip and Toys R Us. Recent new additions include Buckley Oil Company and Midlothian LNG, LLC.
Midlothian Business Park will be marketed to companies desiring to build manufacturing and/or distribution facilities ranging from 25,000 to 150,000 square feet.
“Having a park designed for smaller users will give us an additional option to offer companies that are seeking a developed site in the Metroplex," said Barnett.
"The city of Midlothian is extremely proud of the corporate citizens who have chosen to be a part of the Midlothian's robust economy and we are optimistic that many more will choose our city with the development of Midlothian Business Park," said City Manager Don Hastings.
