Destination Texas: Why Texas Ranks No. 1 Best State for Business

November 20, 2015 by Midlothian Economic Development

In Chief Executive Magazine's annual CEO survey,  Best and Worst States for Business," Texas topped the list again for 2015 as the "Best State for Business" with no shortage of praise.
  • “Texas is pro-business in terms of taxes, licensing, incentives, as well as quality of workforce.”
  • “Moved from California to Texas to start business. Extremely glad I did.”
  • “The good states ask what they can do for you; the bad states ask what they can get from you.”
The Story of Success

The story of Texas' business success is a shining testament to the universal appeal of pro-business policies, quality workforce, and an affordable cost of living.

According to the Texas Comptroller’s Weekly Economic Outlook, over the past year, Texas added jobs in nine of the 11 major industries, including professional and business services, trade, transportation and utilities, leisure and hospitality, education and health services, construction, government, financial activities, information and other services.

Additionally, from 2013 to 2014, Texas employment grew the most out of the 10 fastest-growing states, according to Bureau of Labor Statistics data highlighted in the Office of the Governor’s Overview of the Texas Economy.

The Best State for Business

The Lone Star state has been a consistent favorite among expanding businesses, site selection consultants, commercial real estate brokers, and – increasingly – West Coast companies. In fact, a study just released by Joseph Vranich of Spectrum Locations Solutions, a site selection consultancy based in Irvine, Calif., revealed Texas as the main beneficiary of California divestment in the seven years spanning 2008 to 2014.

According to the November 2015 study, “Texas headed the list not only for the seven-year period overall, but for every year during that time span.” For more study details, visit Spectrum Location Solutions online.

A Rewarding Business Environment

By all accounts, Texas is rich in opportunity thanks to its low taxes, predictable regulatory climate and skilled workforce. Its strategic location, vibrant quality of life, and creative business spirit offer further rewards.
