Larry Barnett, president of Midlothian Economic Development, says the announcement follows several months of work by City of Midlothian officials, the Midlothian Community Development Corporation board and Midlothian Economic Development representatives.

Construction on the upscale 53-acre shopping center is slated to begin in March 2016 with estimated completion being April 2017.

John Weber of Weber and Company, the developer for the project, says the shopping center will include a Kroger Marketplace store with innovate offerings such as online ordering, a Kroger gas station and about 10 other lots for smaller retail stores and restaurants along the highway access road and 9th Street.
