Applied LNG and Midlothian, Texas: A Perfect Fit

November 24, 2014 by Midlothian Economic Development

Midlothian Economic Development President Larry Barnett addressed a crowd gathered to commemorate the groundbreaking of the new Applied LNG facility.

Applied LNG, a leading producer, marketer, and distributor of liquefied natural gas (LNG) in the U.S., broke ground this month on a new $150 million facility in Midlothian, on a portion of the 31 acres the company purchased in Midlothian’s RailPort Business Park.

“Midlothian is a perfect location to build our plant,” said Cem Hacioglu, president and CEO of Applied LNG. “In addition to having all the required amenities to construct a state-of-the-art facility, Midlothian’s strategic location will allow us to tap into a wide range of customers in fast-growing verticals, and the company has already been taking orders in this desirable market.”

City and community support was also critical in Applied LNG’s location decision.

“The support and cooperation we have received from the Economic Development Authority and other city agencies during the evaluation and the selection process made Midlothian an easy choice,” said Hacioglu.

The new Applied LNG plant will be neighbored by RailPort tenant and electric power producer GDF Suez Energy.

RailPort Business Park is a 1,700-acre fully developed industrial park that provides direct access to two four-lane limited access highways.

Midlothian is located 30 minutes from both Dallas and Fort Worth, and 32 miles from two commercial airports, DFW International and Dallas Love Field.
