Applied LNG to Construct New Plant in Midlothian

November 23, 2014 by Midlothian Economic Development

Applied LNG, the United States’ second-largest producer of liquefied natural gas (LNG), broke ground on a $150 million facility in Midlothian, Texas, on Nov. 20, 2014.

The Westlake Village, Calif.-based company purchased 31 acres in Midlothian’s RailPort Business Park.

The multi-liquefier LNG production platform will consist of up to five liquefiers with a production capacity of 86,000 gallons per day per liquefier, and a total on-site storage capacity of 1.5 million LNG gallons. The new LNG plant is expected to grant access to new markets, expanding the company's customer base and adding alternative fuel options. Customer targets are end-users in the high-horsepower trucking, oil/gas production, rail, marine, remote power, and mining markets.

For over 20 years, Applied LNG has produced, marketed, and sold LNG to transportation, industrial, and municipal markets across the United States and Mexico.

Applied LNG is the first mid-stream LNG production company to build an LNG platform in the North Texas region. The plant is expected to be operational by mid-2015.

Midlothian Economic Development worked with Applied LNG for 18 months to make this facility a reality.
